Pit and Fissure Sealants

Jacme Oral Care offer Pit and Fissure Sealants – which are a safe and painless way of protecting Children’s teeth from decay.

A protective sealant coating is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth – this forms a hard shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth and causing decay.

Sealants are often applied as soon as permanent teeth start to come through – usually between the ages of 6 and 7 years old. Sealants last for many years.

Fluoride Varnish

Jacme Oral Care also offer Fluoride Varnish treatment – a quick, safe and effective way to help protect teeth from decay.

Fluoride varnish is painted directly onto the teeth using a small brush. The varnish contains a high concentration of fluoride which helps strengthen tooth enamel and makes teeth more resistant to cavities.

Fluoride varnish can be applied to both primary (baby) teeth and permanent teeth. In line with current NHS guidance, children should be offered fluoride varnish applications from the age of 3 years at least twice yearly. Younger children and adults who are at a higher risk of tooth decay may also be advised to have fluoride varnish more regularly depending on their individual oral health needs.

The treatment is fast, painless and can be carried out during a routine dental appointment.

Sometimes our dentists may recommend a treatment to reinforce a tooth -perhaps a new filling or crown.
